Let’s get started!
LOGGING IN FOR OUR INTERVIEW
A few minutes before the official date and time of our interview, be sure to join us by logging into the Zoom link you received when you booked the session.
Our recording appointment lasts 30 minutes – the interview itself will be about 20-25 minutes, plus we’ve built in a little extra time so we can chat and, if necessary, overcome any minor unforeseen glitches.
It’s important we be there on time so we get the most out of our time together and out of respect for your busy schedule.
TECHNOLOGY DETAILS
This is a video show, so make sure you’re in a quiet place with an attractive background.
Make sure you’re on a stable, high-speed connection to avoid the likelihood of technical interruptions and deliver a high-quality recording your audience will love and enjoy.
Double-check the connections for your microphone and webcam to ensure a smooth, stable transmission.
Wherever you are, be sure there are no noise distractions that could interfere with the quality of the sound.
Take a moment before you log in to make sure the view behind you is attractive and professional to avoid distractions that could detract from the visual quality of the interview – for example, be in a place where nobody is walking around behind you.
GETTING LOGGED IN AND READY
Again, make sure you’re logged in and ready a couple minutes before the scheduled recording time, so we can confirm together all the systems are a “go”.
If you wish to have notes or props for the interview, have them neatly organized in front of you so you can use them without getting distracted.
We recommend you have a beverage beside you, so pour yourself a fresh, tall glass before you log in to avoid getting thirsty during our conversation.
We ask you please avoid eating or chewing gum, as this will significantly impact the quality of the audio. If you need to eat, we ask you do so before we begin.
Taking a quick moment to make sure all these factors in place will make a huge difference making this a MEMORABLE interview your audience will love!
HOW THE SHOW WILL GO
When we are ready to begin, I will press “Record”.
Then, we will have a brief moment of silence so I can quickly confirm everything is in working order.
I will introduce the show, introduce you, then have you speak and say hello to the listeners.
Then, we will conduct the interview.
Among the questions I will likely ask are:
- Tell me about your speaking journey, either as a career or as a key marketing channel, and what led you to get into public speaking in the first place.
- Can you please share a few of your “golden keys” to your success as a speaker?
- What are a few mistakes you made along the way that you encourage aspiring as well as active public speakers to avoid?
- What are you up to now, and where should our listeners go when they find themselves wanting to get into your world?
We will also have time to cover some of the questions you requested we ask when you applied to be a guest on our show, along with any other subjects related to the topic of our interview that come up naturally during our conversation.
COMMERCIAL BREAKS
At some point(s) during the interview, we may end up taking commercial breaks.
I will signal by announcing something like “And now, a word from our sponsor…”
At that point, we will have about 15 seconds of silence so my editor can easily find the editing point on the timeline and we don’t have to worry about clicking the Record button and losing part of the interview if the click doesn’t “take”.
IF WE GET DISCONNECTED
Stuff happens sometimes – if we get disconnected, just relax, we’ll fix it 😊
If you get disconnected, just reconnect quickly. I’ll wait for you.
If I get disconnected, just wait. I’ll reconnect quickly.
To create a clean transition, once we’re fully reconnected, we’ll have 10 seconds of silence, then I’ll re-ask the last question so the two pieces of the recording can be cleanly spliced together.
WRAP-UP AND POST-INTERVIEW
After the interview is complete, I will thank you, give you a moment to say goodbye, then sign off.
At that point, I will end the recording and we’ll have a few minutes to chat about the topics that may naturally arise as we go through our interview.
Looking forward to it!
